Our Review of Black & White Photography Magazine
It's a curious thing that, in the digital age of full-colour, three-dimensional, high-definition films, a publication like Black & White Photography magazine can continue to highlight the beauty and simplicity of monochromatic shots.
However, it is perhaps because of the development of modern alternatives that the high contrast and stark imagery of black and white photographs has come to be treasured by many people as an art form almost in its own right.
Subscribe to Black & White Photography if you buy into this way of thinking, as you are unlikely to find colour snaps among the pages of this unique periodical.
Of course, along with the higher fidelity of monochromatic images, there comes a certain responsibility for the photographer to make sure they are doing justice to the scene.
Shadows and sources of light become crucial elements - perhaps even more so than in other form of photography - while contrast and edges serve to define the objects in the absence of softer, colour-driven distinctions.
Away from the artistic nature of the discipline, a Black & White Photography magazine subscription also addresses the more practical aspects of the pastime.
These include the best places to have your images developed, whether they are on film or on a memory card, along with other articles specific to digital photography - including how best to make it look the same as images shot on film.
Subscribe to Black & White Photography in order to receive each new issue direct to your door, with no additional postage costs to pay on top of your six-monthly, annual or biannual subscription.
If you already read the periodical, you might want to look at the discounts that a Black & White Photography magazine subscription offers - in the range from 25 per cent for a Direct Debit half-year deal to an impressive 40 per cent off when paying upfront on a credit card for 24 issues.

Customer review for Black & White Photography
B&W is an excellent read for anyone who, like myself, is a confirmed mono "nut". As alternative processes such as cyanotypes are featured occasionally, the title may be more accurate if it were re-named "Monochrome Photography".
My only criticism is that the magazine has a tendency to lean too heavily towards digital photography - possibly as a result of the currently predominance in camera sales. However, there is still just about enough in the magazine for it to be worthwhile for film users.

Customer review for Black & White Photography
AS a newcomer to both the concept of B&W photo and learning to use camera, PC, software, papers, etc etc the mag is a complete inspiration and my bible.
What about a monthly course on picture analysis. Same with photography for B&W run by a practising photographer.

Customer review for Black & White Photography
after a couple of years absence I have started reading the mag again. I am disappointed to see that focus have shifted almost entirely to digitally processed b and w. It's still a good magazine if you are into that kind of thing.
